Our technology centre will take part in this leading event for start-ups, scale-ups, investors and corporate organisations in southern Spain, to be held in Seville on 22 and 23 September, providing institutional support, linking our R&D&I capabilities with the business community, and fostering synergies with key players in the innovation ecosystem.
This GNSS-free positioning system, developed entirely by our technology centre, is at the forefront internationally as it relies solely on on-board sensors and requires no prior knowledge of the surroundings, external infrastructure or communications with other systems.
This team is made up of engineering students who develop and present their models and prototypes of aircraft, drones and space rockets, as well as the associated technologies, at the leading national and international university competitions in this field, such as the Air Cargo Challenge, XtraChallenge, EuRoc and SURTAM, amongst others.
The selected companies (four from the upstream sector and two from the downstream sector) are Hisperion, OLMA Space, Orbital Boost Aerospace (OBA), Albor Space, YNSAT and Graniot. They will take part in an incubation programme lasting between 12 and 24 months, which includes up to €60,000 in direct funding, 80 hours of specialist support and access to the ESA BIC international network.
Our technology centre has once again served as an institutional partner for this major international conference, and has taken part in several of the technical sessions on the programme, which featured leading experts and executives from major Spanish and European industrial and technology companies in the aerospace and defence sectors.
During the visit, accompanied by the Director-General for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship and Continuing Education, Francisco Javier González Navarro, he was able to see our facilities and technological capabilities at first hand, as well as attend several specially organised technology demonstrations and learn about some of the most significant innovation projects in which we are currently involved.
This newly selected project is TRIDENT, an initiative coordinated by Thales, focused on the development of a new-generation European system for counter-battery capabilities, based on the integration of heterogeneous sensors, data fusion, decision support using artificial intelligence, and resilient fire control against emerging threats.
Our centre was able to explain in person the main features and benefits of this new technology to King Felipe VI, the Head of State, who visited the campaign held at the ‘Álvarez de Sotomayor’ Base in Viator (Almería).
