The general director of CATEC Joaquín Rodríguez Grau has participated in the event ‘NetCogisite24’, organized by the Official College of Industrial Technical Engineers of Seville (Cogitise); the VI edition of the largest meeting of Industrial Technical Engineering in southern Spain, which was held this year with the theme ‘Engineering, brain of Artificial Intelligence’.

Specifically, Rodríguez Grau took part in the first round table, dedicated to the application of Artificial Intelligence in industry, and reviewed the trends on how the new technologies offered by AI connect with the needs of customers and the sectors in which it is applied. He gave some examples of systems developed by CATEC that incorporate AI in industrial processes, such as:

  • Aeronautical sector: Robots and computer vision algorithms that measure the correct efficiency of aerostructures, in order to reduce the carbon footprint of aircraft; and other AI-based solutions to help the operator in the manual assembly of aerostructure cables for aircraft, indicating where to pin each cable and allowing the status of the assembly to be known in real time.
  • Agri-food sector: Algorithms installed in cameras that detect, in agri-food factories, possible salmonella or listerioris bacteria in the meat being processed.
  • Health sector: CATEC has developed a prototype of a haptic device that simulates tactile sensations during surgery, which will allow the prior detection of possible risks and better planning of surgical interventions.

It has been a very profitable day!
