CATEC participated for the first time at this aerospace meeting, where it met and contacted enterprises and entities from a variety of countries interested in getting to know its facilities and development of common projects

CATEC was present at the 48th edition of the international airshow Farnborough, one of the international prime aerospace events taking place 9 to 15 July in the town of Farnborough, near London (United Kingdom). Our Centre participated for the first time at this remarkable aeronautical appointment aimed at being presented as the best technological allied for companies and as a research place of excellence which already has an outstanding gap in Europe developing new technologies at the international aerospace industry’s disposal.

CATEC was represented by its general director, Juan Pedro Vela, who met and contacted enterprises, institutions and entities from a variety of countries interested in getting to know the Centre’s services and technological capabilities to develop common projects and works. As it did at other events like Le Bourget or ADM Seville, our centre presented as well some of the R&D&I initiatives which are currently being carried out , notably in the area of unmanned systems where is leading several European works. Among them, the Experimental Flight Centre, the first centre in Spain and third in Europe exclusively devoted to technologies and unmanned aerial systems, UAV’s experimentation, to be located on the site of Jaen.

On the other hand, CATEC’s general director participated in the Andalusian delegation’s agenda at Farnborough 2012, including meetings with business associations and aerospace clusters from different countries such us US, Mexico, Italy, Canada and Belgium, and companies like the Canadian manufacturer Bombardier, to explore the participation of the Andalusian aerospace sector in its new production plant in Morocco. At the same time, Andalusian firms and entities could get to know new business possibilities in South Carolina (US), where Boeing has set up a new manufacturing plant for its new 787 type.
