CATEC keeps on strengthening its international scope with the participation in new important events and meetings of the aerospace industry. The last remarkable initiative that had the participation of our Centre was the annual congress of ASD, the European association of aerospace and defense industries, which was held in Lisbon (Portugal) in October 10, 11 and 12.
This congress, which is the most important annual meeting in the European aerospace industry, gathered together in the Portuguese capital over 1,000 professionals from the main international companies and entities, as well as representatives from national associations, institutional representatives from the European Union and members of the university and academic environment. The appointment included a cycle of conferences, a visit program to the most important facilities of the Portuguese aeronautic cluster and the organization of a Technology Forum, aiming the exchange of experiences and promotion of the industrial collaboration in the aerospace and defense environment.
The congress also included the participation of a delegation of the Andalusian aerospace cluster Hélice, with the participation of the managing director of FADA, Juan Pedro Vela, who held different meetings with companies, institutions and entities interested in knowing the R&D aerospace activity in Andalusia and the research developed by CATEC. The meetings also were aimed to enabling the participation of the Andalusian aeronautic sector in the future Framework Program “Horizon 2020” and its associated technological platforms, like Clean Sky II or SESAR. As a result of this work, there were agreed visits of important companies and entities to Andalusia with the aim of concretizing possible collaboration lines with CATEC and Andalusian companies.
