Over 60 managers, experts and professionals from leading companies, institutions and research centres of the Spanish aerospace industry took part in the “CATEC Industry Day” organized by our Centre last 11th November. It has been the most important annual event of the year with the sector whose aim was to share technological advances, promote technology transfer and foster collaboration and implementation of R&D projects with industry. The initiative served to present and disseminate innovative technologies and services developed by CATEC in those areas or sub-sectors with great demand as well as to discuss the latest developments and aeronautical technology developments in a national and European level.
The working day was opened by the General Director of the Agency for Innovation and Development of Andalusia and President of the Andalusian Foundation for Aerospace Development (FADA), Antonio Galán; and CATEC technical director, Alfonso Picardo. The opening session was closed with a conference of Anibal Ollero scientific advisor of CATEC and professor at the University of Seville, on the latest research and R & D in CATEC in a national and international level and where they have been developing new cutting-edge technologies and applications in areas such as unmanned air systems (UAS), robotics or aeronautical materials and manufacturing processes.
This first CATEC Industry Day included a presentations program about technological developments made by CATEC, support services to companies, technology transfer and R & D in collaboration with industry, as well as a series of demonstrations the most innovative technologies that currently works in different areas, including trials with lightweight unmanned air systems. The meeting ended with a talk about funding opportunities for R&D and innovation activities and technology transfer in the field and holding B2B meetings between the participant companies and responsibles of CATEC.
