Our Centre sponsored one more year this conference that has become one of the points of reference in the aviation area and aerial navigation systems in Spain

The Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville hosted for the twelfth consecutive year the National Seminar of Avionics and Air Navigation Systems (SINASA), which during three days brought together more than 100 professionals, researchers and students of the aerospace sector. The event, which was held from April 19th to the 21st in the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville (ETSI), counted again with the sponsorship and support of CATEC, given the great interest that this conference awakens every year, both amongst students of different degrees of engineering, as well as amongst teachers, researchers and entrepreneurs of the sector, which has allowed it to become one of the national conferences organized with greater prestige within the aerospace sector.

The opening ceremony was chaired by the Director of Foreign Affairs of the ETSI, Mª Ángeles Martín Prats (M.A.), and featured the presence of Francisco Sanchez Secure, Director of Manufacturing Engineering and Industrial Innovation of Airbus Defence & Space; and Joaquín Rodríguez Grau, director of FADA-CATEC. The opening ceremony also featured a lecture by George Schmidt, Fellow Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Distinguished Lecturer of AESS and Lecturer in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

As in previous editions, the seminar was developed in order to integrate the knowledge and practical experiences of large companies in the industry, the research teams, public management and universities in the field of avionics and air navigation. In addition, this year students, engineers and professors with their master’s degree in air systems piloted remotely provided by the University of Seville, the University of Huelva and INTA, and in collaboration with FADA-CATEC. Also, during the seminar there were oral presentations and posters of the work carried out by students who have excelled in the subjects of avionics and navigation systems, and there was a technology visit to the Center of Experimentation of the National Institute of Aerospace Technology of the Arenosillo in Huelva.
