CATEC has recently participated in the webinar presenting the Andalusian aerospace ecosystem, organized by the Cluster of Advanced Materials of Cataluña, in which the director of Smart Industry, Jesús Boby Alcaide, has presented the general objectives, organization and capabilities of our center.
Subsequently, he shared CATEC’s contribution to the challenge of weight reduction and sustainability in the aerospace sector, by presenting several lines of technological development of the center that have a favorable impact on the aforementioned challenge.
Specifically, he presented CATEC’s capabilities and lines of work in additive manufacturing, where it is a pioneer and leader at European level; out-of-autoclave composite materials manufacturing, where we contribute our knowledge to reduce the carbon footprint and improve the manufacturing times of these materials; structural monitoring and advanced coatings for the aeronautical industry.
Finally, a discussion was held with the participants in which possible joint lines of work were identified, such as additive manufacturing or the development of more environmentally friendly surface treatment techniques.
