CATEC has appointed Jesús Boby Alcaide as director of ‘Smart Industry’, the business line specialized in Advanced Manufacturing and technologies applied to industry. Among his objectives are to develop the business line orienting it towards the new industry, and to strengthen CATEC’s position as a national leader center in Industry 5.0 for the aerospace sector in Spain.
For Jesús Boby, “this appointment is a huge professional challenge, and I will make every effort to ensure that CATEC continues to be the leading technology center in Spain in Industry 5.0 and a benchmark at European level, and for this I have set as major objectives to strengthen the technological positioning in the areas of Additive Manufacturing, Testing and Advanced Processes, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, increasing the orientation of capabilities towards the needs and challenges of the aerospace industry, as well as serving as a lever in the digitization processes that are developing both companies and our partners”. Until his current appointment, Boby headed Quest Global’s Aeronautics and Defense Center.
Jesús Boby Alcaide is an Aeronautical Engineer and holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Seville. He started his career at Liebherr Aerospace developing on-board systems in aircraft and later focused on engineering services for the Aeronautics and Defense sectors in the companies Isotrol and Quest Global. In the latter, he has held various roles, occupying since 2019 the position of director of the Aeronautics & Defense Center until his current position in CATEC, leading a team of 200 engineers and managing the business comprehensively in design, manufacturing and in-service support projects for the main aeronautical and defense programs being developed in Spain.
With this appointment, CATEC is committed to strengthening one of its main lines of business, at a time of full growth. It currently employs more than 130 professionals, mainly engineers and technical profiles, and expects to grow by 20% this year.
