The Innovation Ecosystems Project, ECO-AERO, led by CATEC, has held at the Aerópolis Park a ‘Demo Day’ or demonstration day to learn about the main developments in the aerospace sector and innovation, which has been attended by the Spanish Space Agency, the Andalusia Aerospace Cluster, TEDAE, and other key entities of the ecosystem, along with leading technology companies such as 4i, CiTD, ISOIN, among others.

During the day, successful cases of sectorial transfer in Cervera Excellence Technologies have been analyzed, and the technology roadmap for aerospace R&D&I strategic agendas has been discussed.

This Demo Day ended with a visit to the CATEC facilities with live demonstrations of robotic technologies, additive manufacturing and artificial intelligence that the center is developing. Visitors were able to see up close the demonstrators developed by CATEC for the Cervera Network projects for technology centers, in which it participates: Red 5R (Cervera Network of Robotic Technologies in Intelligent Manufacturing), CEFAM (Strategic Program for the Training of Excellence in Additive Manufacturing of Metallic Materials), MADISON (Additive Manufacturing, Digitalization and Sustainability) and CEL.IA (Cervera Consortium for the Leadership of R&D&I in Applied Artificial Intelligence).

Paloma Vega Lluch, Head of Business Development at CATEC, was in charge of welcoming the attendees and highlighted the key aspects of the project, its main objectives and reviewed the role of the technology center, in close collaboration from Andalusia with the aeronautical cluster.

ECO-AERO was created to foster collaboration between companies, clusters and technology centers, strengthen the national supply chain and ensure the global competitiveness of the aerospace industry, integrating advanced Cervera technologies such as additive manufacturing, applied artificial intelligence and robotics in intelligent manufacturing. “This important interregional aerospace innovation ecosystem is the only one in Spain that has been awarded by the Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI), within the first call for Innovation Ecosystems based on Cervera Networks of Excellence, which makes it a benchmark in the research and development of aerospace technologies in our country,” explained the CATEC directive.

It is being developed by a consortium of companies and entities led by CATEC and formed by the Andalusia Aerospace Cluster, Airbus, Asime, FIDAMC (Foundation for Research, Development and Application of Composite Materials), HEGAN (Basque Aerospace Cluster), TEDAE and Tekniker.
