Last September we attended the first evaluation campaign of the AIDEDex project, Artificial Intelligence for Explosive Device Detection project, in which CATEC is participating. The event, organised by the HITDOC project and attended by different consortia, took place at the FOI facilities in Grindsjön, Sweden.
For two weeks, our team has been conducting field trials and testing the systems in realistic environments. In addition, not only has the progress of the project been validated, but also very important data has been obtained in order to further advance the various technical tasks of the project.
With a view to clearing areas of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and buried landmines, AIDEDex’s main focus is on automated detection of these hidden threats using Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques on data collected from a large set of sensors.
AIDEDex will use AI throughout the chain of command, control, planning, IED and landmine detection and classification, navigation and multi-robot decision autonomy.
