On December 7, 2024, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) commemorated its 80th anniversary, a significant milestone marking eight decades of international collaboration in the civil aviation industry. On this occasion, the International ICAO organized a series of conferences at the headquarters of the Spanish Aviation Safety Agency (AESA), and CATEC has been one of the aerospace sector entities invited, participating in two conferences.

On the one hand, on December 2, our colleague Javier Garrido, who is part of the Project Management and Business Development Unit, attended as a speaker, and as a drone developer engineer, one of these conferences, entitled “Meet the Civil Aviation Professionals: Drone Pilots and Developers”, where he told his experience in an exciting and enriching profession, and the work he does in CATEC as an avionics systems engineer, representing CATEC in projects at European and national level, such as AMU-LED, AGORA, GEODESY, PILOTING or SIMAR.

On the other hand, on December 13, our Director of Avionics and Systems, Antidio Viguria, participated in the round table “Future Challenges: Sustainability and Mobility”, moderated by Verónica Elvira, Deputy Director General of Air Transport of the DGAC, which addressed issues such as the reduction of emissions and sustainable fuels, route optimization to promote airspace efficiency, new propulsion technologies and the use of new technologies to improve the efficiency of airspace.

Many thanks to ICAO for the invitation!
