Since January 2025, the free training program “Green Hydrogen for Technical Profiles” has been underway as part of the European project FUTURETECH_H2, in which CATEC is a participant. This cross-border initiative between Portugal and Spain aims to strengthen the green hydrogen value chain. The project promotes hydrogen as a strategic technology for the energy transition and the fight against climate change.

In Spain, the course is delivered by the Association for Research and Industrial Cooperation of Andalusia (AICIA) and coordinated by CATEC.

The training is also being conducted simultaneously in Portugal by the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre (IPP) – VALORIZA, in collaboration with the University of Évora.

Among other activities, during the hands-on sessions, participants:

  • Analyze the current state of electrolysis technologies
  • Learn about different types of fuel cells
  • Attend an experimental lab demonstration, observing the production of green hydrogen using an electrolysis system

This training initiative reinforces the commitment of the FUTURETECH_H2 project to enhancing technical skills and developing innovative solutions for a hydrogen-based economy on the Iberian Peninsula.

The FUTURETECH_H2 project is part of the 3rd Call of the Interreg VI-A Spain–Portugal (POCTEP) 2021–2027 Cross-Border Cooperation Program, co-financed by the European Union.
