The meeting had the attendance of research vice-chancellors from the universities of Seville, Pablo de Olavide, Málaga, Huelva and Cádiz. A presentation and a visit to the centre were also carried out
CATEC in collaboration with Academia has held a technique seminar aimed at boosting R&D&I activities within the Andalusian aerospace industry. The meeting had the participation of 60 researchers, experts and scientific from five Andalusian universities to analyze the possibilities of collaboration and joint work for future research and innovation projects related to Aeronautics. Vice-chancellors of Research from the universities of Seville, Manuel García León; Pablo de Olavide, Manuel Herrero; Huelva, Jesús de la Rosa; and Cádiz, Manuel Bethencourt together with the Research and Transfer Secretary Director of the University of Málaga, María Jesús Morales, attended the event and showed they wholehearted support to boost R&D&I and knowledge transfer in technological projects to be transferred to the industrial sphere afterwards.
In the course of the seminar, the scientific-director of FADA-CATEC, Aníbal Ollero, did a presentation about the centre’s structure along with the different technological capacities and scientific equipment the centre has to develop academic and industrial projects. During his talk his also stated the possibilities of joint collaboration with Academia in the areas of materials and processes, structural tests, automation and robotics, simulation and software, avionics and unmanned aerial systems.
The Vice-Chancellor of Research of the University of Seville, Manuel García León, highlighted that they collaborate with CATEC in a number of research projects, “we are going to keep boosting this collaboration because it is a great opportunity to train our young students as technologists and scientifics who can develop their talent in great technological projects and be able to jump into business afterwards”. María Jesús Morales, Research and Transfer Secretary Director of the University of Málaga also pointed out that “this centre offers huge possibilities many of which we should take advantage of to establish synergies and develop initiatives and investigations to be transferred into the technological and aerospace industry later”. These also contribute to complete the students’ skills.
Juan Pedro Vela, General Director of CATEC, closed the seminar stating that “the objective is to strengthen the links of cooperation with all the Andalusian universities and establish a fluent and dynamic relationship enabling to work jointly in projects with a great asset to the Andalusian aerospace industry”. The meeting finished with a visit to the CATEC’s labs and warehouses, where the attendants could know some of the R&D&I projects and watch several demos and tests.
