Our Center and the company Zero 2 Infinity presented the first 3D printing space rocket engines, participated in different workshops and conferences and held a high number of B2B meetings
CATEC successfully attended ADM Sevilla 2018, the largest business meeting of the aerospace sector in Spain and one of the events of reference in Europe, which was held once again in the capital of Andalusia . Our center developed different activities and presentations in which it presented its latest technology that is already being applied by the industry of the sector, at the same time that it held many B2B business meetings and interviews with companies and international and national entities.
Among the activities developed, it took place the official launching of the combustion chamber for Zero 2 Infinity’s Bloostar engine, made by FADA-CATEC through advanced manufacturing technology (3D printing).
This aerospace component was presented by the director of CATEC, Joaquin Rodriguez Grau; the head of the Materials and Processes Division, Fernando Lasagni; and the founder and CEO of the company Zero 2 Infinity, Jose Mariano Lopez-Urdiales. The Regional Minister of Employment, Business and Trade of the Government of Andalusia, Javier Carnero, was also participating in this important presentation, who highlighted the potential of this type of technologies because of their advantages, and the leadership of both entities in the aerospace sector.
The 3D printing of this engine is an international milestone, the result of the collaboration between CATEC and Zero 2 Infinity,and implies a key step in the development of a new generation of space rocket engines through more efficient technologies, since it entails a dramatic reduction in cost, environmental impact, production time, and mass.
The CATEC agenda at ADM Sevilla 2018 also included participation in several workshops and round tables, such as “High altitude pseudo-satellites: state- of-the-art, challenges and trends”, in which the opportunities represented by this new type of satellites were analyzed, or a presentation of the European project AERIS, of which CATEC is a partner.
