Our center participated with an exhibition of some works and pieces manufactured by additive manufacturing technology for the space sector
Seville joined, for the sixth consecutive year, the World Space Week, an initiative that was held worldwide between October 4 and 10 and that had a wide program of activities developed in the capital of Seville. . The World Space Week, initiative promoted by the United Nations, is the main international event related to the use of space technologies, whose main purpose is to disseminate to the public the benefits of the Science and Space industry for Society, an industrial sector which has a relevant weight in Andalusia and a promising future.
The activities were coordinated by the Space Forum of the City of Seville, an initiative in which 30 public and private entities linked to the aerospace sector collaborated, and in which our center, FADA-CATEC, participated one more year.
The program included more than 20 activities aimed at citizens to raise awareness of the potential of the Andalusian space sector through its main social and economic agents and developed in 15 different spaces. Among the activities highlighted professional forums, conferences and round tables, educational workshops with children, visits to planetariums, exhibitions and days of open doors to companies. Specifically, our Center collaborated with an exhibition on technologies and parts manufactured by additive manufacturing technology (3D printing) for the space, which took place at the headquarters of the CREA building (Center for Advanced Business Resources).
The initiative closed with remarkable success, as more than 2,000 citizens participated in the different programmed activities. The organization foresees that next year, with Seville as the capital of the Community of Ariane Cities, the participation of both the citizens and the economic and social agents of the sector will increase.
