Our centre was able to explain in person the main features and benefits of this new technology to King Felipe VI, the Head of State, who visited the campaign held at the ‘Álvarez de Sotomayor’ Base in Viator (Almería).
CATEC had an exhibition stand at this international conference held in Seville, where we presented our new drone technology called BRISA, and took part in various panel discussions and sessions as part of the scientific programme.
At these facilities, located in Ames (A Coruña), our centre develops cutting-edge technologies and projects in the field of drones and UAS for security and defence. Since it began operations, it has carried out R&D initiatives with more than 10 companies, as well as other research projects with the Universities of Vigo and A Coruña.
The session took place whilst the Spanish and Portuguese partners were in town, following the 1st Spanish-Portuguese Green Hydrogen Forum, which brought the project’s recent public activities to a close.
The proposals submitted have already been assessed by the Tender Evaluation Board (TEB), the technical committee responsible for their technical evaluation, and the final selections will be announced publicly in the coming days.
CATEC has made a significant contribution to this European project by developing a system comprising an autonomous drone and navigation and mapping algorithms, enabling safe inspections and the generation of real-time 3D maps that are extremely useful during tunnel construction.
The meeting, held in Sines (Portugal), highlighted the importance of Iberian collaboration in setting an unbeatable example for the production of this energy vector in Europe, and the need to promote demand-side support as a key condition for the sector’s take-off. CATEC has participated as a partner in this European project aimed at strengthening the green hydrogen value chain in the Alentejo and Andalusia regions.
