Various companies and innovation and research organisations were introduced to the latest developments and advances in the use of innovative solutions applied to the agri-food sector, such as unmanned aerial systems and various related digital technologies in this field. They also had the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into CATEC’s expertise and technological capabilities in this area.
CATEC is collaborating on this new project under the INNTERCONECTA STEP 2025 call for proposals, providing technological support and validating the various AI solutions implemented during its development, as well as carrying out applied research across virtually all the initiative’s activities.
CATEC and The Lean Hydrogen Company are developing this new R&D initiative, the main objective of which is to design and validate a test bed for electrochemical hydrogen compression in order to conclude the experimental phase of this technology and move towards its commercial production.
CATEC is the only operator in Spain with LUC certification and its own aerodromes for testing aircraft ranging from 10 to over 1,000 kg, covering all categories from mini to MALE and HAPS, making it a leading provider of advanced UAS flight operations services at European level.
CATEC has been a partner in this innovative project under the Horizon Europe programme and has led the development of additive manufacturing for aerospace components using PBF-L/M on Scalmalloy® test specimens and demonstrators. Furthermore, it has assessed the potential impact of laser treatments on the material through tests on specimens, such as tensile, fatigue and residual stress tests.
We recently took part in the 12th European Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring (EWSHM 2026), held in Toulouse (France), where CATEC presented two interesting papers on advanced sensor technology using FBG (Fibre Bragg Grating) and shared other developments and innovations in this field of technology.
A team of colleagues from the Advanced Testing and Processes Unit presented two scientific papers relating to the DIRECTOR-A and RIBAM projects, in which CATEC is participating.
Our technology centre will take part in this leading event for start-ups, scale-ups, investors and corporate organisations in southern Spain, to be held in Seville on 22 and 23 September, providing institutional support, linking our R&D&I capabilities with the business community, and fostering synergies with key players in the innovation ecosystem.
